National news: 2 years agoAlso cool tech: Solar panels are getting cheaper and more efficient all the time. There is a company up in San Jose that is printing solar panels onto metal sheets on machines very similar to the one we use to print the newspaper every morning: http://www.nanosolar.com/technology/our-factories The Chinese are also making huge strives in solar. They [...]

National news: 2 years agoAnd to chime in on this post: If we want to find sustainable sources of energy to meet the growing demand going forward, we are going to need to tap into lots of technologies. I think thorium reactors are a good idea, but I would like to see solar (Mojave has more than enough sun), [...]

National news: 2 years agoThe “img” tag was inadvertently left off the list. I’ve added it the FAQ list. I also hope to get the “pre” tag enabled soon.

National news: 2 years agoFor the people who insist on believing the Kenyan birth certificate nonsense, I give you truth:

If you really wanna live in denial, might as well have some fun and generate Kenyan birth certificates for everyone you know… I think Trump would appreciate one:

Chris Ladd posted on the forum thread Kids, schools, and PE in the topic
Parenting: 2 years, 1 month agoI feel PE is a waste of the student’s time and the school’s money. Exercise should be done at home or in optional after school programs. Keeping your kids healthy should be the parent’s problem, not the child. Just looking around todays schools it is clear that a 60 minute PE class isn’t going to [...]

All the rest …: 2 years, 1 month agoMy truck has been rocking the Linux fish/shark emblem for over 10 years http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/stickers/2898/ Their caffeine selection is also great but, because they are on the east coast, the shipping is a little bit steep. Everyone once is a blue moon they run a free shipping promotion, which allows me to feed my addiction. They [...]

All the rest …: 2 years, 1 month agoYep, Wordpress appears to filter the tags and then wrap the lines in p tags. I’ll see how hard it is to preserve the pre tags. I’m sure some of the discussions on here wouldn’t be complete without the wisdom of ‘cowsay’.

All the rest …: 2 years, 1 month agoI think the pre tag is currently filtered out, lets see:

All the rest …: 2 years, 1 month agoThe default CSS for the theme I based the site on is removing the quotes for the ‘q’ tag and the indention for the ‘blockquote’ tag. I do like the idea of the default behaviors though, so I am making a note to give the tags back their default behavior when I get a free [...]

Education: 2 years, 1 month agoI watched a great PBS video a few weekends ago called Digital Nation. A large portion of the video is about how students think they can constantly multi-task but end up not giving enough attention to anything they are trying to do. I can only imagine how tough it must be to be a teacher [...]
