So they try gun control, knowing full well, according to US murder rates from 1885 to present, that gun control will get them there

    Can’t hide from the truth

I figured this would be too hot for the bored libs to touch. The truth isn’t on the gun grabber’s side.

Its a complex issue, mike. And there are condradictory studies. Both sides of the debate appear to cherry pick the data and see what they want to see. Guns, by themselves are not the problem. Its when guns are mixed in with a multitude of other factors that there becomes a problem. Sensible gun laws, while they cannot 100% ensure, can significantly lower the likelihood that those ‘factors’ do not enter into the equation of responsible gun ownership. I don’t understand why the organization that supposedly represents ‘law abiding’ gun owners can be so dead set against sensible gun laws. Despite all the rhetoric from that lobby, this is not a ‘gun grab’.

  • Profile picture of limalimamike limalimamike said 2 months, 2 weeks ago:

The current gun laws on the books are sensible, but it sounds like to you, not enough.

What if I was to tell you that the FBI has said in the past that it “rubber stamps” background checks for firearms purchases when they get too busy?
But new, SENSIBLE gun laws want the FBI to do a more thorough background check?
Maybe if the govt would enforce the laws they have on the books, then law abiding citizens, like you and me, won’t need to be constantly harassed by the govt, due to their lackadaisical attitudes.

SO by your own admission, the status quo does not adequately protect citizens. That’s the whole point! However which way you slice it, changes need to be made. What would you propose we do about legally obtained firearms being taken and used by someone OTHER than the registered owner? Again, the status quo is not adequately protecting the public.

IF the current laws were enforced, yes status quo WOULD do the job…
Tell me this, if current laws aren’t being enforced, what tells you any new ones would be?

It’s just like the immigration laws, they aren’t being enforced, but liberals are crying the system is broken.

Enforce the laws that are on the books. Why do people like you insist on taking rights away from people like me? To overcompensate for an incompetent government?

BESIDES……..according to the graph in the OP murder is down quite a bit today…..I think people like you are too emotionally hung up on the recent actions of mentally ill and criminals, while trying to paint people like me, law-abiding gun owners, into their picture..

I haven’t read or heard one word denigrating law abiding gun owners. No one wants your guns or your rights. We just want to be protected from unstable people getting their hands on guns.

Does tha include rapid-firing assault weapons? Extended magazines? Registration of gun owners? Straw buyers at gun shows? Comprehensive background checks?
Each of these factors are opposed by the LaPierre and the NRA, which have become a gun manufacturers lobby.
You keep equating “gun control nuts” (as your linked article uses the term) as people who hate the constitution, anti-2nd ammendment, out to “take our guns away,” left-wing socialists and communists…the list goes on. Everything but people who simply don’t want guns accessible to nuts looking for a body count.

    GROUCHO SAID
“No one wants your guns or your rights”
You want to take my right to own semi-automatic weapons for the protection of me and my family

“We just want to be protected from unstable people getting their hands on guns.”
You want to control unstable people and criminals by telling me that I cannot legally own semi automatic weapons? Taking away my rights to stop others doesn’t stop the unstable and criminal element from committing violent crimes. It stops me from being able to defend myself from them though.

If the govt would do their job by enforcing the laws that are currently on the books, like the FBI is supposed to be a presence at gun shows, as well as background checks, instead of rubber stamping them when it becomes too “inconvenient” because they are overwhelmed, along with a huge laundry list of what the government DOESN’T enforce with current laws, then we would be much better.

If you two would just look at the graph in the OP that shows the murder rate in the US from 1885 to present, you would see that we are at a low point, homicidally speaking. What’s NOT working?

Reginald Denny would have enjoyed having a semi auto rifle with a few hi capacity magazines to get him out of the mess he was in.

Four assailants, mike. If he required a 30 round clip to fet off 4 assailants, that’s a pretty louzy shot. You imply that he was up against an army. One shot between the eyes would have ended the threat. There really is no need to turn them into swiss cheese. That crosses the line between self defense and retribution. Stop watching Quentin Tarintino before bed!

4 Assailants…with many more waiting in the wings…..look at the video again, and check out how many possible targets are popping in and out of stores, running in the middle of the street, and others just hanging around.

Are you that good of a shot, to be getting your ass kicked, hit in the head with a brick, to squeeze off one round, and only one round, to save your life?

I know for a fact that the sound of one round, and people start to pay attention. Many rapid rounds in succession, and people start to flee.

By your writing, i take it that it is safe to say you also want to ban semi auto weapons and hi cap mags?

“That crosses the line between self defense and retribution.”
Isn’t that for a jury to decide?

“Stop watching Quentin Tarintino before bed”
I don’t watch anything that anti 2A scumbag puts out

HEY GROUCH! Here is another gun grabber…and a Congresscritter to boot, that wants ALL of my weapons.
How many of these do I have to post for you to understand that 2A is under assault?
