A rather perplexing conclusion from a suposed Consititional scholar and Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Apparently it is illegal to wire tap the phone of a foriegner without a court order, but within the authority of the President to kill a US citizen on US soil without so much as running it by a judge.
File this under “Subjects the mainstream media could give a rip about, unless done by a Republican President.”

Meanwhile, back on the range in Afghanistan, non US citizen terrorists get Miranda rights. Back at home, US citizens don’t get such protections…
    Amazing.

And illegal aliens get released inside the US. How backwards do the liberals have it?

So, just where does code pink and the ACLU stand on this?

WOW…even the ACLU stands AGAINST Obama et al

For the record, and I have noted it a number of times in this space, this is the most troubling aspect I have with Mr. Obama, and the one issue I completely disagree with him on.

Perhaps this is the logical conclusion of influence and impact of the Reagan/Cheney years, unfortunately.

Well, why not blame Obama’s failures on the influence from a President that left office 20+ years ago and whom the left despised. So does Reagan get credit for Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, or did Obama do all that on his own, despite the influence and impact of the Reagan/Cheney years?

Will the Obama sycophants ever hold him responsible for his actions?

Well, JB, until it was the democratic Barack Obama in the White House, the GOP had no problem with drone strikes on anybody, rule of law or not, nor with starting an illegal war based on lies. Some of us pointed it out at the time…and to be honest, the progressive media has been all over this drone business since early on. I suspect the GOP’s conservamedia has kept mum because frankly, they support it too…unless they can somehow blame it on that black guy in the White House.

THAT sir, is a bunch of Bolshevism.
No Republican that I am aware of EVER backed taking out an American suspected of anything with a drone.

BTW… I LOVE how you, so effortlessly, blame every US maleficence on anyone, other than a liberal.

Above is a link to the AD’s written response to Rand Paul’s inquiry. Its quite terse. I would not consider this a victory. The question is almost as simple as the answer; both opening the door to how one defines a ‘combatant’. I, for one am not satisfied. I would like to know who and by what process will be followed to make such a determination. Will a judge decide who’s a combatant? Will the president decide? What would be the evidenciary standards? Does the state need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is engaged in combat? Do the accused have any rights to defense in a court of law before their keister is shot at? The real question is not who pulls the trigger, but WHEN or UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES can they pull the trigger and declare a death sentence to a US citizen.
