One way to control these terrorists is to nip it in the bud.

I think someone already posted this.

[update] Oops. No. It was another story depicting absurd overreach.

I’m thinking of the guidelines around Tarasoff in determining risk here. Did they honestly believe this little girl had the means and intention to do harm? The hyper vigilance caused by the Sandy Hook tragedy is alarming. Its important that school staff take threats seriously, but not seriously out of context. Her intention was to attack the student, who was a friend, with bubbles. How can the school discipline a 5 year old PERIOD for an incident taken SO out of context? I don’t think this is a ‘looney liberal’ thing as much as its just looney, period.

And then people wonder why our educational system is so seriously screwed.

Different issue all together, Andy. Hypervigillance isn’t just a problem in the schools, but everywhere. There’s, unfortunately no way to shove Jack back into the box. But to indulge you’re comment, I think we need to spend less time focussing on the shortcomings inside the classroom and start looking at the shortcomings inside the homes. Our education system isn’t nearly as screwed up as our families in America are. We expect schools to do what parents should be doing and then demonize them for not ‘fixing’ the children we screwed up raising.

In our society today there is a gross lack of common sense and good judgement. Everything seems to be just one big knee jerk reaction.

Like the NRA telling members that the government is coming for their guns when controls are discussed.

Or like Obie demanding more gun control while the bodies of those poor children were still warm.

Yeah, he said it was clear that doing nothing at all was not an alternative and that was at the eulogy for the murdered people. You find that objectionable?

    Yes.

They weren’t warm. The guy with the assault weapon made sure of that.

Your words MM not mine. I agreed that I objected. As I object to any politician using a tragety to push their political agenda. Poor mm can’t tell the difference between an objection and an offense. Creepy.

Sorry Groucho, but no assault weapon or self loading rifle used at Sandy Hook.

What political agenda is being pushed in the wake of a national tragedy that should not have happened?

  • Profile picture of think4yourself think4yourself said 4 months ago:

Andy, by your logic George W. Bush’s response to 9-11 was ‘an agenda’..
