That’s something I would expect from Progressive. Hopefully, GEICO will soon learn how much of their business is with supporters of the 2nd amendment and will publicly reconsider their decision.

That is strange beings how GEICO stands for Government Employee Insurance Company. They insure a lot of soldiers.

    Warning to consumers:
With the possible exception of Budweiser beer, DO NOT buy anything advertised by a talking animal. Especially reptiles with a British accent.

I actually have no problem with this. Free enterprise. As long as the government is not involved, forcing companies to drop those associated with fire arms, then I have no problem. People will go to those companies that don’t have a problem insuring firearm owners. If enough cancel with GEICO, they may rethink their position.
But as we are already finding out, the government is getting their hands in things.

Glad I don’t have GEICO for my homeowners insurance. They would crap their little lizard pants if they knew what I have in my gun safe.

I also believe that a company is free to choose parameters, chosen by morals and beliefs, to guide the service of customers

Unfortunately, this stinks of government interference. Do you believe that it is just a coincidence that our govt is calling for gun control, with banks and insurance companies following suit?

Think about it. When did you hear of banks and insurance companies pass on making money?

I recall a local gas station with a sign, “We support education. We don’t play the game.” Meaning they don’t sell lottery tickets. Nearby was a pharmacy that discontinued birth control products. Another stopped selling tobacco products.
Not selling a product is one thing, I’m all for that discretion. Refusing service to a customer based on his interests or lifestyle is contrary to serving the general public and doesn’t make business sense.
Some CEO went off the deep end with his personal beliefs? Maybe the shareholders can get him to see the light.

Geico states there is a misunderstanding concerning this policy.

Thanks sys, I knew someone would have enough sense to check Snopes.

  • Profile picture of limalimamike limalimamike said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

Of course Geico says there is a misunderstanding. When has a corporation ever admitted it was doing something as dishonest as this?

They would gladly pay millions of dollars in a settlement to not admit they did something wrong

besides, with all the left leaning media now a days (60 minutes spent 30 talking to O and Clinton, and not one difficult question was asked) there aren’t many sources one can trust…snopes has a slant to left as well.

Insurance companies are quite often sticklers for rules. Regular business use of vehicles insured for personal use could cause difficulties when/if processing a claim. Check you own policies.

I’ve never known Snopes to be anything but factual.
