I get the impression that the full story isn’t being reported. Typical of journalism these days.
The health dept. spokesman said venison isn’t allowed to be served in shelters or restaurants. Didn’t say why. If it’s an obsolete law, then change it. If there is a factual health reason, then say what it is. I’d think meat from a processing plant would be o.k.; but then, I’m not a health inspector.
Wasn’t too long ago fast food joints in San Francisco were encouraged to leave excess burgers and fries outside for the homeless. Health dept. immediately put a stop to it. Said exposed food, even though wrapped, is subject to bacteria.
