Yesterday I observed several green “parrots” flying overhead and roosting in a neighbor’s tree for a few minutes. The birds are more properly ring-necked parakeets, but I don’t quibble. Anyway, I was surprised to see them this early, with the winter temps of under 40 degrees still here.
Humming birds bellied up to the feeder during the months of December and January. How they survive the winter in the wild is one of those mysteries I haven’t yet found an answer.
