Yesterday, I stepped away from the keyboard (I know you all missed my wisdom) and watched “Once Upon a Midnight Dreary” at the Bakersfield Community Theatre. Something about watching a live play that you don’t get from a movie. Now that I think of it, the last couple of years I’ve watched more local live plays than I have movies. My favorite theaters are The Empty Space and The Spotlight. If you haven’t attended a local play, you should. Bakersfield has some talent that may surprise you.
To further broaden my cultural horizons, I’ll be at the Bakersfield Museum of Art (formerly the Cunningham Art Museum). Every second Sunday of the month (that’s the 11th) admission is free to senile citizens over 65. Every third Friday of the month (that’s the 16th) admission is free to everybody.
